I get an error message when trying to register the software

Problem:

When trying to submit your registration details, you receive the message "The following MySql error occurred: Can’t connect to MySQL server on ‘www.catbase.co.uk".

How to open Port 3306

Windows XP:

  1. Open your Control Panel
  2. Open Network Settings
  3. Select ‘change windows firewall settings’.
  4. Click on Exceptions tab
  5. Click on the Add Port button.
  6. Type in MySQL for the name of the port and 3306 for the port number. Select TCP
  7. Save your settings

Windows Vista:

  1. Open your Control Panel
  2. Open Windows Firewall
  3. Click on “Allow a program through Windows Firewall”
  4. In the Exceptions tab in the Windows Firewall Settings window, click Add program
  5. Select CatBase in the list of programs, and click OK

Macintosh

  1. Open your System Preferences
  2. Click on Security in the Personal section
  3. Select Set access for specific services and applications
  4. Click Add (+)
  5. Locate the CatBase program and double-click it
  6. Make sure that Allow incoming connections is selected
  7. Close the window
